You can also check your fuel level sensor in the tank. The level indicator float may have jammed in the upper position. Locate the fuel level unit (generally a circle-shaped piece of plastic or metal cover, screwed to the side or top of the tank) and try to knock it a bit, perhaps it will disengage, if that was the problem.

check your wires back to the gas tank sending unit as 1 might be broken or come loose, check the ground wire especialy.
