Okay, first off, Deuteronomy 18:22 (KJV, as I'm told it's preferred):
21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the L-RD hath not spoken?
22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the L-RD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the L-RD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
-
And Mark 13:30 (with context, also KJV):
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
[And several other prophecies that I'm sure you can find if you're interested.]
30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
-
Since this did not happen in the allocated time, hasn't the L-RD not spoken it?
Will post more examples...
Peace. For our Christian friends here on R%26amp;S: Deuteronomy 18:22 on false prophecies and Mark 13:30 on the return...?
It's all too much to answer here.
I agree with Mommy - THE KINGDOM was the church and still is the church. Jesus Christ came to bring the Kingdom of God - it's the body of Christ with all the Holy Ghost/Spirit power and authority -- it's not known by some Christians b'c some don't know this is what Christ meant by His Kingdom. (I'm amazed mommy got thumbs down on this one, it's absolutely true)
The Lord's prayer that Jesus taught: **';Your Kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven';**
The spirit of God is moving among the body of Christ right now anointing with great power and authority - hard to believe i know but none-the-less true -- it's a supernatural move of God.
Hope this is one point cleared up.
Peace and blessings ; )For our Christian friends here on R%26amp;S: Deuteronomy 18:22 on false prophecies and Mark 13:30 on the return...?
Than you Angel - i know most people here and out there in the world see Christians as stupid, arrogant, and incapable of loving one-another -- it's not about us, it's all about our Lord Jesus Christ and His will and plan for all mankind. Nothing of us and all of Him.
Peace to you x

If you read since verse 5, you will understand that the prophecies have not happened- earthquakes, famines, etc. ALL these ARE the beginnings of the birth pangs. They are happening now. So Jesus meant what he said, THIS generation鈥?will not pass away until all these things have passed.

sigh! I really wish christians would get this one right so it would clear up the confusion... ';the KINGDOM'; was the setting up of the christian church. and that did happen prior to that generation passing away.
The Christians of Jesus' time understood that passage to mean Jesus wuold return in their lifetime. He didn't.
';some of you standing here will still be alive when i come back'; - Jesus, 1st century
All the Lord has spoken will come to pass that much we can be assured of.
This goes with the 'thief in the night' passage. Since 'no man knows the hour nor day, no not even the angel or the Son of Man, but only the Father knows.'
What 'generation' is this passage referring to? Do you know?
The 'generation' is that one which saw Israel become a Nation. This generation is that of 1948; which NOT all have passed away. How long is a generation in biblical terms? Some say it is 40 years, some say it is 70 years. So, those of 1948 are now 60 years. Ten years will mark their 'generation' reached; however, not ALL from that generation will pass away. The key in Mark is ';till all these things be done';.
We see many of the birth pangs happening around the world. The LORD will speak when it is time to speak... when He does, will you be ready to hear the trump and be caught up to the Bridegroom?
Problem with understanding the Bible is due to the different interpretations of it. Don't make the Bible so complicated ...its actually very simple to understand. Study to show thy self approved. Let the Holy Spirit guide you, you will never go wrong.
Jesus didn't deceive anyone. The generation alive at the beginning of the birth pains will not pass away until it is all finished. That means that from the beginning of the ';birth pains'; until the end of the tribulation will be within the time frame of one generation.
Matthew 16:28 they did see Jesus come into His Kingdom when after his resurrection, he baptized his followers with the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 10:23 It means you will not finish going through the cities of Israel preaching the Good News until Jesus returns (you, as in followers of Christ in general)
Matthew 23:36 All of the blood of the innocent prophets, wise men, and teachers come upon the hypocrites of the generation in which Jesus was talking to.
Mark 14:62 We will all see Jesus sitting at the right hand of his Father. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord.
1 Cor 7:29 Yes, the time is short. What may seem like a long time in human time is not a long time to God.
1 Thes 4:16 that is referring to the end of times and has not occured yet.
Peace to you.
Are you having trouble with the ';...this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.';? This entire passage in Mark 13 is future during the ';tribulation';. ';THIS generation'; refers to the generation He is speaking OF which is in the future; not the generation he is speaking TO. It all WILL come to pass. This is all future prophecy. As for all the others, you're leaving them out of context. The context is all future.
Genesis 12:3 -- I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee...';
Although you are trying to make your Messiah out to be a liar, I still bless you, seeing as how the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob chose your nation as the ';apple of his eye'; and that your nation (Israel) is ';beloved for the fathers' sakes';. You are simply trying to destroy people's faith. Jesus Christ will come back and will sit upon the throne of David in Jerusalem and will rule with a rod of iron and That will be your lion from the tribe of Judah. But before GLORY must come SUFFERING.
Verily I say unto you; well spotted. I've always been astonished at how much his return resembles that of the great Zeus', especially with regards the fact that neither has actually occured within the previously designated times. Perhaps he's intending on being fashionably late, as is appropiate for any member of royalty.
Pst: ';doors'; (Mark 13:29) is not ';door'; (John 10:9);
And ';generations'; (Gen 5) isn't ';generation';(Mt 1:1)
God is not [the author] of confusion, but of peace.
Pst: God isn't LORD in the flood story. 2 isn't 7.
POINT:
Grace isn't LAW;
Truth isn't LIE.
Life isn't DEATH
Mercy isn't SACRIFICE
Peace isn't DIVISION
If you look at the verses preceding Mark 13:30, you will notice Jesus is speaking of things yet to come. He repeatedly says ';...you will see...';, meaning He is speaking of future events not yet happening because He is speaking in the future tense.
You have a discerning eye. Some of the things written in that passage are happening now, such as the increase in wars, earthquakes %26amp; famines.
It also says right after this that the end is still to come %26amp; that this is the BEGINNING of the birth pangs. Birth pangs get closer together %26amp; more intense as the delivery time draws nearer, meaning the wars, famines %26amp; earthquakes will increase in numbers %26amp; severity as the time for the Son of Man approaches.
So, He is referring to a future time that hasn't happened yet.
EDIT: You're confusing different appearances of the Son of Man.
His comment to them of not tasting death until they say His Kingdom come was also recorded in Mark 9 where Peter, James %26amp; John saw Moses %26amp; Elijah. They are considered part of the Kingdom of God. So they did witness it before dying.
Remember, John the Baptist preached the kingdom of God is here...meaning we live in a natural realm but operate under the Kingdoms' principles.
The time for its fulfillment has not yet occurred. The generation that shall not pass away until these things are fulfilled is the one that is around during the events that he describes in that context:
Mark 13:4-31
4 Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?'; 5 And Jesus, answering them, began to say: ';Take heed that no one deceives you. 6 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am He,' and will deceive many. 7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows. 9 But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them. 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 11 But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 12 Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 13 And you will be hated by all men for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
14 ';So when you see the 'abomination of desolation,' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not'; (let the reader understand), ';then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house, nor enter to take anything out of his house. 16 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his garment. 17 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 18 And pray that your flight may not be in winter. 19 For in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. 20 And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days. 21 Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, He is there!' do not believe it. 22 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 23 But take heed; see, I have told you all things beforehand.
24 ';But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars of heaven will fall, and the powers in heaven will be shaken. 26 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of earth to the farthest part of heaven.
28 ';Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near--at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
NKJV
So basically those that see the signs given in Mark 13:4 onward will be the generation that will see the second coming of Jesus.
I have seen these list of so-called failed prophecies and contradictions on internet and the overwhelming majority are resolved like this - reading the context.
